Candle Care & Repurposing

To have the best experience and make the most out of your candle please take note of
the following instructions.

  • For each burn, make sure the wax pool melts to the edge of the jar. This is very important for the first burn. This helps avoid tunnelling around the wick, so that you can experience all 52 hours of burn time..

  • Always trim your wick to about 5mm and centre before relighting.

  • Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time.

  • Keep your candle on a heat safe and stable surface.

  • Please extinguish the flame carefully, hot wax can badly burn you.

  • If there is black soot around the walls of the jar, carefully wipe it with a paper towel after the candle has cooled.

  • Discontinue use when there is at least 2cm of wax remaining.

Safety instructions

  • Keep your candle away from drafts, curtains, and flammable items.

  • Always allow your candle to cool before handling or relighting.

  • Our containers are made of glass, please handle them with care.

  • Do not use your candle if the jar is cracked or chipped.

  • Keep out of reach of children and pets.

Failure to follow instructions could result in fire, hazard, or injury. Please look after your candle and yourself.

REPURPOSING YOUR CANDLE

We chose our glassware due to how versatile it can be in it’s after-life.
Here are some of our favourite options:

  • Container for cotton pads, or earbuds, combs, or toothbrushes

  • A new pencil holder for your desk

  • Salt pinch jar for the kitchen

  • Makeup brush holder

  • Amber tinted glass is great for propagating plants – don’t throw away your avocado seeds

  • Pot for a succulent

  • Actually not a bad coffee cup?

We would love to see your creative way of repurposing our jars – feel free to share your ideas with us on social media or drop us an email!

To clean your candle you can either:

1 Wipe it clean with warm soapy water and a soft towel

2 Place candle on a tray in the oven on the lowest temperature (around 70°C) until the wax is melted. Find an empty tin can from your recycling bin (e.g. any empty canned vege will do). Remove the jars (using oven mitts) and pour the remaining wax into the can and place into the trash. Note: you cannot recycle the can with the wax in it sadly.

3 Stand the jar in a saucepan of hot water, melting the wax from the outside of the jar. When the wax is slightly melted on the outer edges, you can gently twist it and throw it away. This will also help remove the label if you desire.
